CORONATION TRAINING CENTRE uses the differentiated curriculum assessment policy Statement for learners with severe intellectual disabilities (DCAPS SID).

The purpose of this curriculum is to equip learners, irrespective of their socioeconomic Background, race, gender, physical ability or intellectual ability, with the Knowledge, skills and values necessary for self-fulfilment, and meaningful Participation in society as citizens of a free country.

Educators make use of appropriate forms of assessments relevant to the Differentiated learning styles and needs of the learners at the school. Assessment in the differentiated curriculum and assessment policy statement is Underpinned by the objectives of the National Qualifications Framework (NQF).

This curriculum allows for a grading system designed to allow learners to access Quality content at a differentiated level.

The grading starts from grade r to grade 5. The following diagram explains the ages And years the learners remain in a grade before being progressed to the next grade. Our learners are therefore progressed according to age and not according to Academic achievement.

The core subjects of the school include language, life skills, mathematics and Natural science. Language h/l, life skills and mathematics are done from grade r to Grade 5. In grade 4 and grade 5 the learners are introduced to natural science as Well as first additional language. From the age of 13 when the learner starts grade 4, they are introduced to skill Subjects
